BFH
Sydcon has added to it's overseas portfolio of projects with a recently
completed contract in Honiara, Solomon Islands. The project included some consultancy work at
the front end to determine the best options available for the client. From
that, BFH Sydcon were engaged to design and manufacture a security fence which
included highly specified K12 Crash Rated Gates and Rising Vehicle
Barriers.
The
project involved BFH Sydcon's representatives working in conjunction with local
construction company's to dovetail a program that involved the logistics of
materials being supplied from Australia and the USA.
It is
part of our company's philosophy when undertaking projects in under-developed
nations, to try to impart as much of our expertise whilst in-country. To that
end we trained many of the the local labour force in the assembly techniques of
our fence system, and along the way made many friends. The mutual respect gained when
educated professionals work shoulder to shoulder with the local people is priceless, and as we found out through our own observations, not
something these people often experience.
We were also able to make a life changing gesture for one family by providing solar power to their home which was previously lit by candles. This now means the children can read and study in a luminated room, a luxury we simply take for granted.
