International Project Management
Singapore
Ian Ferguson was contracted by Gryffin as the Project Manager to supervise the upgrade to perimeter security at the Australian High Commission in Singapore.
The scope of works included the Supply and Installation of Palisade Security Fencing, vehicular ram gates, protective bollards and boom gates - all interfaced with the existing security system. The initial process involved the preparation of documentation for Tender to local subcontracting company’s.
A contract was negotiated and the project was completed 6 weeks from commencement of works. Significant civil works were required prior to materials arriving from Australia, including the felling of some 30 large trees and ground leveling.
The ram gate was designed to withstand a 5 tonne vehicle traveling at 50km/hr and involved precision installation using new technology. This also involved access control integration and commissioning. The main challenges of this project revolved around the language barriers, and operating in a foreign country without established supply or subcontractor relationships.
